Therapist Bios
Leslie Haws, M.A., MFT, CSAT, earned a B.A. degree in
Sociology in 1986, and in 1996 completed a Master's Degree in Education
with a specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco. She has actively
worked in the mental health services for over 25 years. She has been in
private practice for over a decade and during her years of direct
clinical work she has sought on-going cutting edge training in advanced
therapeutic models that treat trauma and addiction recovery. She has
training certifications in the treatment of Sexual Addiction (CSAT),
EMDR, ACT (Affect Centered Therapy), Grief-Bereavement Counseling, and
training in Trauma Recovery, Jungian-Depth Psychology, and Sand Play
Therapy . She is a certified sexual addiction therapist (CSAT) trained by
Patrick Carnes's (IITAP) International Institute for Trauma and Addiction
Professionals. She serves as Executive Director of LifeSTAR Sacramento
Counseling Agency, which offers the LifeSTAR Recovery Treament Program
for families in recovery, www.lifestarsacramento.org. Since 1998 she has
provided clinical services for a wide range of issues in her private practice—New Bridge Counseling Services. Leslie
is a member of IITAP (International Institute for Trauma and Addiction
Professionals), SASH (Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health); and
PASAT ( Professional Association of Sexual Addiction Therapists) and
CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists).
Eileen DeGruccio, LMFT, CSAT, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has a
master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and has been in private
practice since 1990. She works with individuals, couples, families and
group therapy. Her therapeutic experience has been focused primarily
around trauma survival, relationships, compulsive behaviors, codependency
and addiction recovery work. She is a trained EMDR and ACT clinician
(Affect Centered Therapy) and recently completed work on a certification
in sexual addiction treatment and recovery (CSAT). She often speaks to
various groups and communities providing information about relationships,
communication, co-dependency, stress management, parenting and addiction
recovery topics. She is a strong advocate of the need to teach healthy
sexuality. She has sponsored and facilitated retreat weekends, including
Marriage Enrichments for couples and Heart to Heart, a 12-step program.
She is currently the Clinical Director of LifeSTAR Sacramento, which is
part of the LifeSTAR (Sexual Trauma and Recovery) Network Program. Eileen
is a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family
Therapists) and SASH (Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health).
Grant Garrett,
M.A., LMFT, CSAT, is
a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in sexual addiction
treatment and recovery. He is a trained ACT clinician (Affect Centered
Therapy) and has completed his CSAT (Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist)
training and certification. Grant has experience working with a wide
range of counseling needs, including depression/anxiety and anger
management to individual and marital issues. He also specializes in
treating individuals and couples who are dealing with problems related to
sexual addiction and compulsive behaviors, and he facilitates men's
therapy groups devoted to sexual addiction recovery. In addition, he is
experienced in working with adolescent issues and family counseling.
Grant is a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family
Therapists), SASH (Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health), and
IITAP (International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals).
David Stanton, M.S., LMFT, earned a B.A. degree in
Psychology in 1991, and in 1995 completed a master's degree in Marriage,
Family and Child Counseling from California
State University,
Sacramento.
He has worked in behavioral health services for nearly 20 years and has
training and professional experience in many areas including: addiction
recovery, family issues, child/teen issues, anger management, and
depression/anxiety. David also specializes in sexual addiction treatment
where his depth of education and experience provides a solid foundation
for guiding individuals and couples through the process of restoration
from the ravages of pornography and compulsive sexual behaviors. David
enjoys leading people in the renovation of their lives through strategies
that strengthen and heal their relationships with self, spouse and
family.
David is a LifeSTAR clinical staff member in Fair Oaks and Program
Director of LifeSTAR Sacramento in Elk Grove (South
Sacramento area). He is also an affiliated clinician with
Creekside Counseling Associates in Elk Grove where he maintains his private
practice—“Renovated Heart.” David is a member of the California
Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and is also a
member of SASH (The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health) and
PASAT (Professional Association for Sexual Addiction Treatment) both of
which promote community and professional education.
George F. Peckham, LMFT, CSAT, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
currently working in private practice. George recently completed the
requirements for certification as a sexual addiction therapist (CSAT) and
was trained by Dr. Patrick Carnes. George is actively involved as a group
facilitator and co-facilitator in the LifeSTAR treatment program for
sexual addiction. He also works individually with clients helping them
recover from sexual addiction and has specialized training in Affect
Centered Therapy (ACT). George has considerable experience working with
families, children, adolescence and adults addressing depression, anger,
anxiety, sexual addiction and relationship difficulties. He has specific
training and experience working with individuals affected by ADHD. With
nearly 10 years experience participating in men’s groups and 20
plus years in the recovery community, George is dedicated to helping
client's recover from addictive behaviors. George is a member of the
International Institute of Addiction and Trauma Professionals (ITTAP) and
the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) as
well as the Sacramento Valley Chapter of CAMFT (SAC-CAMFT).
Caroline Benard, M.A., MFTI graduated from the University of California
at Davis with a B.F.A. in Studio Arts, and
went on to earn her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. She is a registered
Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. Caroline has over twenty years
combined experience working with children and adults as a life coach,
positive psychology writer, preschool teacher, and elementary school art
instructor. She integrates her literary and creative backgrounds into her
psychotherapy work. Caroline has professional experience and training in
use of art and sand play therapy techniques as well as AMST (Affect
Centered Therapy). She has over ten years of experience and training in
addiction recovery. Caroline works with individuals, couples, children,
adolescents and families on such issues as trauma, grief, loss,
addictions, ADHD, depression, anxiety, relational difficulties and
attachment disorders. She specializes in treating couples and partners
who are affected by sexual addiction and trauma. She facilitates and
co-facilitates LifeSTAR’s women’s groups devoted to helping
partners/spouses of sex addicts heal. Caroline is also a clinical
associate with New Bridge Counseling Services. She is currently pursuing
certification for her CSAT (Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist) as well
as certification for EFT (Emotion Focus Therapy), used primarily in
couples therapy. Caroline is a member of the California Association of
Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) as well as the Sacramento Valley
Chapter of CAMFT (SAC-CAMFT)
Ralph E. Rast, M.A., M.F.T., C.H.T, is a licensed
Marriage & Family Therapist for over 25 years and Clinical
Hypnotherapist for over 15 years. He earned his Masters of Arts
degree in counseling from University of the Pacific in 1977. He has
completed 100’s of hours of professional level training in
addictions, marital and family therapy, child and adolescent therapy,
personality disorders, clinical hypnotherapy, and more. Ralph is
one of the group therapists for LifeSTAR and he conducts individual,
marital, and family therapy sessions. Ralph has a special interest in
helping individuals and couples recover from the impacts of
addictions. For over nine years Ralph has taught at University of Phoenix's, Sacramento Valley Campus,
in the graduate school of family therapy. He has helped design UOP
courses and helped train new faculty. Ralph is a member of the Calif.
Assoc. of Marital & Family Therapists (CAMFT), the American Council
of Hypnotist Examiners (ACHE), and the Northern Calif. Professional
Assoc. of Sexual Addiction Treatment (NCPASAT).
